Using JavaScript to interact with MS Excel

To enable this, you must enable ActiveX components, and you must have Microsoft Excel installed.  This demonstration shows how to use JavaScript to open and interact with Excel through the Excel automation server component.


Be sure that your security settings allow ActiveX controls to be run on this web page.  Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Custom Level, and be sure that "Initialize and script ActiveX controls" is set to either "Prompt" or "Enable".
